About Mark
Mark Basinski is a guitarist and arranger living in Sonoma, California.
An active rock and blues guitarist in his teens, Mark studied classical guitar in Alicante, Spain 1984-85 with José Tomás.
Mark was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship for study in Montevideo Uruguay in 1990 with Abel Carlevaro & Eduardo Fernández.
Mark continued his study at the University of Arizona, where he received his A. Mus. D. degree in classical guitar performance in 1994.
Dr. Basinski served as Adjunct Professor of Music History with the University of Arizona School of Music 1994-95.
For 25+ years, Mark worked for Cisco Systems as a network management and network security professional, now retired.
During this time, Mark was guitarist for the SFJAZZ Monday Night Band 2016-2019, providing many arrangements for the band, with an emphasis on the Snarky Puppy songbook.
After the unfortunate demise of Monday Night Band due to COVID, in 2021 Mark put together a couple of pandemic isolation projects with some of his former Monday Night Band colleagues:

Mark is currently guitarist and arranger for The 770 Collective, a jazz/fusion septet active in the North Bay.
