Mark Basinski is a guitarist and arranger living in Sonoma, California.
An active rock and blues guitarist in his teens, Mark attended North Texas State University as a Music Major.
Mark studied classical guitar in Alicante, Spain with José Tomás at the Conservatorio Superior de Música Oscar Esplá. Mark was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship for study in Montevideo Uruguay with Abel Carlevaro & Eduardo Fernández. Mark continued his study at the University of Arizona, where he received M. Mus. and A. Mus. D. degrees in classical guitar performance.
Dr. Basinski served as Adjunct Professor of Music History with the University of Arizona School of Music 1994-95.
For 25+ years, Mark worked for Cisco Systems as a network management and network security professional, now retired. During this time, Mark was guitarist for the SFJAZZ Monday Night Band 2016-2019, providing many arrangements for the band, with an emphasis on the Snarky Puppy songbook.
Mark also has performed with Oakland's Class Act Big Band.
Mark is currently guitarist and arranger for The 770 Collective, a jazz/fusion septet active in the North Bay.
